The first official 'BM'blog sighting

Image courtesy of Mr. J. Raynor, Bradford
We have reports from people's fathers saying that this guy has looked exactly the same for about 20 years... has he found the secret of eternal health or is there just an army of lookalikes? Who knows? The truth is out there.. somewhere. More info/pics as and when i get them...

My Mum said that she remembers this geeza when she was little, now I'm talking a good 45 years ago, he used to walk passed her first school just as he did mine....unbelievable!

I have seen this guy so many times and every time i see him he looks the same...Anither point I was thinking the other day was how many miles the guy must cover! I reckon he might have a unicycle or a small motorbike under his tunic to cover the miles at night..Also can anyone ask where this man sleeps at night I dont know of any monastaries in the Bradford vicinity!?!?!!?

I was approached by a Monk in Beverley on Friday afternoon. He looked like a surfer dude and was like majorly chilled like dude. Awesome.
Anyway, I had quite a good chat with him and I asked him if he knew of the Bradford Monk - cos I asked why he wasn't wearing a brown robe like the Bradford dude - which he laughed at. Unfortunately he didn't know him. Shame.
He also tried to sell me some 'Monk Rock' CD's which sounds probably better than it actually would. The title of one of the CDs was 'Guaranga Rock'. I couldn't really see it being up there with the likes of Metallica so I politely said no n carried on with my shopping for obscure DIY bits.

i've seen this guy on and off since i was about now 33... my mum used to say she'd seen him walking around bradford since she was in her 20's..she would have been 68 this year...
i've always waved at him - but i've never had the guts to go talk to him...but he seems like a nice guy to those who DO stop and talk to him.. he rocks!!

I've seen him in Bradford for as long as i can remember. The last time i spotted him was in Idle 2 weeks ago hanging around outside the Co-Op chatting to the chavlings, He also loked like he was sporting a new pair of sandals (Nike Air Jesus)

he lives in Baildon with this other guy a bit further up from my mate, from my personal sightings of him he seems to walk a similar route everyday starting in Baildon and either catching the train or walking through thackley through idle and five lane ends

I often see the guy in mcdonalds in the evening

he's aparently well off

not that i'm stalking him haha

His name is Geoffry Brindley. In his last interview with the papers, it stated he was 36 in 1964, which makes him 78 now (...i think). So not bad for an old fella, he certainly doesnt look it.
Born in Buxton in Derbyshire, he says he one day read the bible. A few weeks later he took his bible and toothbrush and left Buxton for Yorkshire. Here he spent 7 weeks at a cave in Settle waiting for a message from god. Locals provided him with food and blankets etc. He must have received this meassage anyway, because he then began to fast and started walking, preaching about god, and trying to save sinners. He was locked up numerous times for trying to save "Bingo Sinners" out side bradford Mecca. He says he never receives any real abuse from people, and they kind of accept him for what he does and who he is. He lives in a flat somewhere now, but continually walks a set route of 20 miles a day.

I dont know what the message he received is, or what prompted him to move in the first place, he never told the paper. That bit remains a mystery.

Hiya we have just seen him sat in a bus stop at Ben Rydding (near Ilkley) on May day Bank holiday. This is still in Bradford MDC area so it must still be the BM and not some young pretender to the throne of monkdom.
